Dr. Peter Foster   Founder and CEO

Dr. Peter Foster is a senior company executive with extensive experience across a wide variety of industries and scale ranging from startup through to public company environments. He is a creative entrepreneur with wide-ranging experience in developing innovative technologies for global markets having founded and grown numerous technology and commercial ventures.

Dr. Foster has a range of business interests and experience which span early stage technology commercialisation through distribution, boutique retail and eCommerce. He invented the core technology, founded and led high-tech company ChronoLogic Pty. Ltd. through its acquisition by Australian listed company, Silex Systems Ltd. and headed the business unit for Silex for a number of years before repositioning the assets for divestment. Dr. Foster invented the technology, created the vision and led global business development activities for the company’s revolutionary instrumentation platform.

In 2004 he co-founded The Electric Room, one of Australia’s first online retailers of professional audio recording equipment and co-developed the company’s eCommerce system. In 2007 he co-founded Magenta Audio, a high-end hi-fi distribution company. In 2009 Dr. Foster advised on the structure and business plan for a medical records startup, iDataMap Pty. Ltd. and took a leadership guidance role including Chair of the Advisory Board. In 2014 Dr. Foster co-founded Longwood Audio as a vehicle for acquiring the assets of the Halcro high-end audio amplifier business. In 2015, Dr. Foster secured the global rights to a remote sensing technology for fugitive methane emission markets and leads commercialisation of the programme.

Dr Foster sits on the board of a State Government initiative to develop a photonics industry cluster around the academic and industry capacity of the state and has lectured on startups and commercialisation of technology at Adelaide University and UniSA.

Dr. Foster received his PhD in Physics from the University of Adelaide. Prior to founding ChronoLogic, he held positions of Senior Laser Physicist at Norseld Pty. Ltd. as well as Guest Scientist at the Department of Metallic Materials, University of Bayreuth, Germany.

Dr. Foster has extensive experience with the invention and intellectual property protection process, holding over 50 international patents.

Mr. Laird Varzaly is an international management consultant specialising in the area of technology commercialisation. He has more than 25 years’ experience in technology research and development, manufacturing, international technology transfer, software development, marketing and telecommunications. His professional origin is Silicon Valley in California, one of the top research and development centres in the world. Here Laird gained valuable experience as an international manufacturing license project manager for the Nuclear Power Division of General Electric Company, a managerial leader and top ranking Fortune 500 Company. He then started his own company in international technology marketing and technology transfer to assist growing industries export their technologies ensuring that their customers received full benefits of their products. In addition, he was a partner in one of the first PC and software mail order businesses at the onset of the PC revolution.

Subsequently Laird was headhunted by international recruiters to transfer to Australia as the CEO of Integrated Silicon Design Pty Ltd (ISD), a start-up company in CAD software and Electronic Identification Systems, which was the forerunner of smartcard and chip tagging technologies which are now prevalent both in Australia and internationally. After this company was sold he has become partner in several new technology start-ups and has been working as an international management consultant.

Laird has participated in a range of technologies and projects that have required deep insight into high-level government decision making processes and medical industry functioning as well as electronic industry practices. With the intent to share his broad experience Laird has more recently contributed his time to occasional university lecturing.

He serves on a number of Boards of Directors including Chairman of the Board of iBosses Limited, an ASX listed company dedicated to the development of entrepreneurs.
